Taylor Swift has been all over the news lately both as a performer and also as a news personality. Whether you keep up with the latest “famous people” trends or not, it is fascinating to read between the lines to see that everyone has a particular Design to live out whether they acknowledge it or not. For the last few months, we have all been subjected to pressures that we have not previously experienced. Those who live in the spotlight can find themselves more pressured than others, but all of us are being called to “step up” in our commitment to personal integrity.
If you know and are attuned to your Human Design, you have all the keys you need to be aligned with your own integrity. You find that your partners in life reflect aspects of your own nature that you may, or may not, be comfortable with.
An extraordinarily talented performer, Taylor Swift, has recently attracted a reputation for starting and quitting a number of “high profile” relationships. For Taylor, when the relationships fail, the characteristics of the partnership are often put into song, or somehow broadcast in the press. Certainly, we can all gain great experience from the people who travel with us through life, but there can come a sense of despair when we are expecting certain things in our relationships that partners are not able to fulfill for us. Ultimately, we all have to “face” our own music.
Human Design helps us do this like nothing else can.

Taylor is someone who was born with great capabilities, and an inbuilt means to “succeed” in life, but without necessarily knowing what, or how, that success means to her, at least at first….. In Human Design terms, she has a “split” Design, indicating that her drive to succeed, and her drive to inform and direct other people might not necessarily be aligned with her inner feelings. Inevitably, by Design, she has very high expectations of the people around her, of feeling driven to achieve perfection in everything she does, but she can be enormously upset, and even confrontational when things do not work out to her high standard. Brilliant at marketing and making money through her story-telling, she slips easily into the role of playing “Queen Bee” in every environment she takes on. When there are glitches, she fixes them, constantly learning to take crises in her stride. Intensely focused, she sings from her heart, from her inherent sense of balancing the well-being of the world around her, through the pressures that life introduces to her, and deep down, from the feelings of which she is only barely aware. All of this is revealed in her Design. At age 17, she probably started losing track of or outpacing most of the friends she had. Although her songs have been self-indulgent, if she can sustain herself in these next few years, they are going to morph to embrace a wider audience, as she finds herself taking on the “cause” for a worldwide expansion of assuring individual human rights. She assumes the role of teacher with some very creative and confrontational teaching methods. In her love life, Taylor will need to learn great tolerance, because she is far more powerful than almost everyone she meets, but also trusting and potentially volatile when it comes to intimacy, or situations where people make fun of her. With her open Mind Centers, she is probably a bit spacey and bound to be fascinated by intellectuals and their pursuits, though she will come to realize that the thoughts that entertain most people are not really appealing to her own nature. Her open Mind can accept or reject any thought-form, and one of her great lessons is to learn not to take people too seriously. Whether you like her or not, Taylor is going to have an enormous effect on her world, and it will serve her really well to find the stabilizing influence of good friends and meaningful partners in her life who remind her of her great sense of humor. I really enjoy contemplating the difference it would make in Taylor’s life if she now, at age 24, received her Human Design Reading! With the knowledge of her own Human Design and even a simple understanding of the Designs of the people in her life, she can consciously acknowledge her own intelligence and gifts in ways that do not rely on other people’s opinions and taunts. She can draw to her the people who honor her very particular nature and find deeply satisfying relationships. As things stand presently, she cannot see her way through the apparent obstacles that confront her, and she is likely to stumble needlessly into situations that cannot bring her happiness or resolution. For many artists, it’s one thing to sing songs about your love life, but it is another thing altogether to live it.
